I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance directly.

If you have a PPO plan with out-of-network mental health benefits, I can provide a superbill that you may submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Reimbursement rates vary by plan, so I encourage you to contact your insurance provider to learn about your out-of-network benefits, deductible, and reimbursement policies before beginning therapy.

I also accept HSA and FSA cards.

Most clients attend therapy once per week, which provides consistency and momentum for meaningful growth and change. In some situations, meeting twice weekly may be beneficial, particularly during periods of significant stress, transition, or intensive therapeutic work.

Sessions are typically scheduled at the same day and time each week.

There is no one-size-fits-all answer. Some clients seek therapy for a specific concern and find a few months of focused work helpful. Others choose longer-term therapy to explore deeper patterns, heal from past experiences, strengthen relationships, or navigate major life transitions.

We will regularly discuss your goals and progress together.

My approach is integrative, relational, and culturally responsive. Depending on your needs, I may draw from Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), psychodynamic and relational approaches, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based interventions, self-compassion practices, and LGBTQ+ affirmative therapy.

I strive to create a collaborative space where you can explore challenges, deepen self-understanding, and move toward a more authentic and meaningful life.

Yes. As a native Mandarin speaker who grew up in mainland China, I offer therapy in Mandarin, English, or a combination of both languages.

Many clients find it helpful to move between languages when discussing family, culture, identity, and emotionally significant experiences.

Yes. Supporting LGBTQ+ individuals is a central focus of my clinical, research, and teaching work. I have extensive experience working with lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, nonbinary, queer, questioning, and gender-diverse clients.

I provide an affirming, sex-positive, and culturally responsive space where clients can explore identity, relationships, minority stress, self-acceptance, and personal growth.

Yes. I work with many Asian American, immigrant, international, and bicultural/multicultural clients navigating identity, belonging, family expectations, intergenerational relationships, acculturation stress, and experiences of discrimination.

As a Chinese immigrant myself who has lived in multiple countries, I understand many of the complexities that can arise when living across cultures and communities.

Many people feel nervous about starting therapy, and it is completely normal to have questions or uncertainty. Our first few sessions are an opportunity to get to know one another, discuss your goals, and determine what feels most helpful for you. You do not need to have everything figured out before you begin.

Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session.

Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, as well as missed appointments, are charged the full session fee. Insurance companies do not reimburse cancellation fees.

Because I am licensed as a psychologist in California, I can generally provide psychotherapy only to clients who are physically located in California at the time of each session.

If you travel frequently or have questions about your specific situation, please feel free to discuss this during our consultation.
